WdKA – Artist-In-Residence Program

Branding ❘ Visual Identity

In March 2016, the Willem de Kooning Academy started the Artist-in-Residence programme, as part of the graduation profile Autonomous Practices. Every two months an artist or designer takes residence in the designated studio, where he or she will attempt to create as much common ground with the academy’s practices, major courses andmeeting stations as possible.

The departure point of the programme’s visual identity is the view the studio has over Blaak. Each artist-in-residence may come from a different discipline, they all share the same view. Therefore, I used the window frame as a literal framework to announce my project, creating a visual metaphor for the residence with framed typography.

To give this project the visibility it deserves, the typography transcends the posters and is applied within the residence’s window frames.
